<b>ANI, TURKEY.</b>  The abandoned ruins of the city of Ani, Turkey near Kars which was once Armenian inhabited and populated until the middle of the 18th century on August 12, 2010.  Tensions between Turkey and Armenia over competing claims of genocide in the early 20th century have translated into diplomatic tensions and Armenian isolation from such important geostrategic regional projects as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
